Logo for the Chopin Foundation of the United States

Presented in partnership with the Chopin Foundation of the United States, the Frost Chopin Academy is offering pianists up to the age of 30, the opportunity to room and board for 8 days at the state-of-the-art facilities of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, to exclusively immerse themselves in the works of Frederic Chopin and learn first-hand from the world’s most distinguished Chopin specialists. The Academy is an invaluable resource to any young pianist who is passionate about the music of Chopin and is looking to deepen his/her understanding of Chopin’s works.

In addition to individual lessons, active participants may also take part in an audition to perform one of the two Chopin Piano Concertos with orchestra in the final Festival concert, and all participants will be given the opportunity to perform in Festival concerts. It is the firm belief that the achievement of a fine Chopin interpretation requires not only practical guidance from teachers, but a broad, comprehensive encounter with Chopin’s world, his life and culture. For this reason, our Academy also includes scholarly lectures by renowned Chopin experts. Workshops will address performance related issues in a group setting.

And as hard intensive work also needs moments of rest and entertainment, the Academy offers opportunities for students to participate in social events and mingle with other students from our sister camp, the Frost Jazz Bass Academy and forge new friendships.
