6 Individual Lessons:

The Academy offers every participant lessons with each of our master teachers. Lessons take the form of smaller groups of 3 students sharing a two-hour session with their teacher to address specific issues regarding each student's performance as well as more general discussions regarding style and historical context.  Students will be assigned to 3 master teachers during the course of the week and have two lessons with each teacher. All lessons focus exclusively on the works of Chopin.  This year, our principal teaching artists include: Dang Thai Son, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Edward Auer, Dmitry Ablogin, and Kevin Kenner.

Masterclasses/Lectures:

The Academy will feature specialized workshops and lectures fashioned to help participants with specific issues surrounding the performance of works of Chopin and the music of his contemporaries. Workshops are open to the general public free of charge.  This year we will be featuring Prof. Professor Kenneth Hamilton whose book "After the Golden Age: Romantic Pianism and Modern Performance" has become an indispensable resource to classical pianists seeking to better understand the manner of 19th century piano performance traditions, and Dmitry Ablogin, Laureate of the 1st International Chopin Competition for Historical Instruments, who will be demonstrating and teaching the 19th century improvisatory art of "preluding".

Tuition and Housing:

The cost of tuition to the Frost Chopin Academy is $1900 and includes free on-campus room (8 nights) and board (3 meals a day) as well as free access to practice rooms at the Frost School of Music.
